Culinary Accidents

Today at dinnertime my wife fried a sausage, and she managed to obtain a flavour that I haven't tasted in years, and I hoped but sometimes regretted I could taste no more.

The taste of a deep-fried sausage bought late at night in a cheap London takeaway.

It is not easy to get, you see, because it requires the right combination of heavily processed food and oil in which said food has been fried since morning.
